The component mentioned in the title will be released soon as stated on the main website. I've got a pre-purchase question and didn't find a better place to ask.

Throught this component will it be possible to give authors and publishers restricted access through which they will only be able to add articles to sections which are predefined?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Jigsaw,

Thank you for your interest in Community ACL. It is now currently shipping.

As for your question - the answer is in some ways - yes. The current build you can do this through what we call Functions. But in the next few builds of Community ACL - you will be able to define the different access per group/roles which will allow you to define add/edit/publish policies.

All purchases include free upgrades to the newest release.

Kindest regards,

I'm very interested in the sections/categories/articles creation and editing.  What about the menu system and access to specific menus?

Also, do you have a demo or any sceenshots before I make the investment?  I'm not one for 'flying blind'?

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing back from you guys!

Matthewgann,

Yes these features are available within the package. When you talk about sections/categories/articles ceration and editing - this is a coming feature that will be available this coming week/late week.

I will send you a link and password to test our development site.

Kindest regards,

It looks like I'm looking for what everyone else is - some means of restricting a group of users to only be able to (and only see options for) publishing to a particular section/category.  I'd sent an email about this earlier (pasted below), but didn't hear anything back.  It sounds like that what we're looking for is the direction the product is heading, but it's not there yet.  If that understanding is wrong, please do correct.  Many thanks.

I saw your post over at the Joomla forms about Community ACL.  I poked around your CorePHP site a bit, and it looks like that may provide me the means of achieving my goals.  Specifically, I'm trying to find a way to implement an ACL by which any person may register (as an author) at my site, and publish and edit their own articles within a single category (say, User Articles).  In other words, I'm trying to use Joomla to achieve the same functionality that you see on a Scoop-based site like DailyKos.com.  Am I correct in understanding that Community ACL would allow me to do exactly that?

MB,

Yes the updated version is coming out this week that will allow you to perform this type of function. Right now you have a large amount of functions on separating the different type of contents/categories/sections with your users but we are enhancing this and will be released shortly.

Feel free to contact me at 269-979-5582 if you have any further questions.

Kindest regards,

I sent this in an e-mail, but haven't heard back yet, so I thought i'd post it.

Thanks for the e-mail.

I'm working for a University that's wanting all departments, colleges, etc., under the same content management system.  Generally, secretaries for departments will be managing their areas.

Generally speaking, a secretary for the College of Business should have access to edit and create content for, lets say, the Business Section, which includes Management, Accounting, Finance.  But, the secretary for Management needs access to just access to edit and create content for the Management category.  And, even more specific, one professor needs to have access to one just edit one article that's in the Management category.

Saying this, is it possible (either now or in your update for next week)?  If so, can I get a basic run down of how this would be done?

I logged in to the admin area, and the flow seems good, but I just need a quick run through to solidify the concept.

Thanks for your help,
Matthew

Well, when someone at corephp gets a chance, I'd love an answer on how to extract the files from the unlabeled file that showed up with my order confirmation email.  Emails already into sales and support.  (The original email was no help at all, and there's nothing useful on the site itself.  Not exactly encouraging, honestly.)

MB,

Please note that the process via virtuemart is not automated. We will not have the automated process till we have the new site up and running which is coming in the next few weeks. For right now all orders for Community ACL is process manually.

Please see our response to your ticket.

Kindest regards,
