Is CACL included in the membership?

It's kind of confusing whether the newly shipped CACL will be included in the membership subscription. can you please verify? I saw a very steep cost of almost $2000 as the standalone server price for this Joomla component! Tell me that is not true.

cACL is not included in the membership - this is a license product. We offer two variety's of cACL - site license and a server license.

Site License -> 79.99
Server License -> 1199.99 for unlimited server usage.

What about the upgrade policy for the site license? Is there a fee everytime joomla version changes? I ask because Joomla is currently in v1.5.3, what happens in a year, two years, etc when the Joomla version changes, and the purchased CACL does not work with latest joomla version?

The purchase of cACL provides you unlimited upgrades for the Joomla! 1.5.x package. It is hard to say what will happen in the next release - of weather the code base will be compatible with the next version of Joomla! - if it is - then the upgrades will still continue - if not then a new version of cACL will be developed and will be a additional charge. Again this is a tough one to say because none of us know what will exactly happen in the next high number version release of Joomla!.

But do note that as Joomla! continues to grow - no matter what release - we will continue to release and update the package based on request. We have already updated quite a few times based on additional request to the packages.

These are good questions and we will be adding them into our knowledge base.

All of our products can be purchased without a membership. cACL is the only product on our line that is not included in our membership.
