I'm excited about the possibility of integrating WP with Joomla. I have a couple of questions before I subscribe.

1. Is this a bridge that works in a wrapper or is it a full component? I'm a bit confused about this. Are the wp admin functions done through wp or through the joomla admin panel?

2. I currently have an established WP blog with hundreds of posts and thousands of comments. Will I be able to import all of the existing content & comments to the joomla+wp set up? I really can't afford to lose any of this. Is the corePHP product right for me?

Thanks!

Khrishna,

We are just as excited as you - as we have spent quite a deal of time on getting it perfect prior to releasing.

To answer your questions:

1: This is a complete component with modules / plugins / the works. And more to come over the next year with additional items plugins to Wordpress itself. So no this is not a wrapper - but the real deal - a complete wordpress that works right inside of Joomla!

2: It uses the same database structure that Wordpress uses. We can give you a hand if you need any help with the migration - but it would be pretty much moving your data over to the new tables. If you are savy with phpmyadmin this can be accomplished easily.

Again thanks for your excitement and interest in the product.

Kindest regards,

Thanks for the speedy reply, Steven.

WP is now installed (couldn't have been easier) and I'm now looking at migration. Do I simply copy the data from my stand-alone WP database into the corresponding jos_wp tables?

We can migrate this data for you - we have not had a chance to write up the documentation to do this as of yet - we will be doing this once we get back from the conferences that our company is involved in.

Pretty much if you want - the quick and easy way of doing things is if you have the data in the same database you should be able to just rename the wp_ tables to jos_wp_ and either rename the ones that are installed to bak_jos_wp_ so that you have a backup of the database.

You should be all set after that.

We will have more clarifying documentation coming soon.

Thank you for the instructions. The posts/comments/users are now imported. I was unable to import my wp-options table without messing up the component so I used the default table.

I'm now having a problem with the dashboard. The toolbar is missing so I'm unable to change settings. I've tried re-installing the component and reimporting the data but get the same result. (picture below) Before the import, the toolbar is there.  Any ideas how to fix this?

I to could no get the wp-options table to work and could not get my categories across. Could this be that my old wordpress site was only version 2.6.3? I wonder if the wp-options was changed in the upgrade to 2.6.5.

It is in our documentation or here is the link:

Similar question to the originator. Here's what I am trying to achieve:
1. Move to Joomla so I can get the layouts I really need
2. Preserve ease of use with WP

What I currently have (see: http://www.accmanpro.com) can be totally butchered for Joomla purposes because I will apply a Joomla specific template, adding in any JS requirements through the mod_html component.

So...will the plugin help me achieve that?

Please note I am on WP 2.7

Like others, I need to preserve permalinks.

Many thanks.

dahowlett,

Currently the version of our Wordpress Component is not 2.7 - we are working on finalizing this version and it will be out shortly. We will be posting news of this when it is completed.
