I purchased the latest version of ACL a few days ago. Installed and setup with no problems. That is unless I misunderstood what it will do.

My setup is very simple. I have two groups. One is for Registered and the other is for Author and the roles have been set. However, no matter which Registration Membership Type I selet when creating an account, it's always setup as a registered user. I thought it was supposed to create the account based on the type of membership.

Am I wrong or have I not turned on a switch someplace?

If I login and change the Registered to Author, it works the way its supposed to. In fact, Registered, Author, and Public works correctly.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,
Yes, Community ACL assigns the new user to the Registration Membership Type in the drop down list.
Now the Registration Membership Type - should be assigned Community ACL group(s)/roles(s) , which will be assigned to the user upon registration.

Further more, Joomla registration by default assigns the user to the default Joomla user group type
This is usually setup under Joomla Configuration - under System
    >User Settings
      >>New User Registration Type (drop down list).

So the reason why you see the user being assign to the Joomla group registered and the Registration Membership Type(s).
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any further questions.
Regards,
Kobby.

Ok, I understand that the Registered label will not change.

My setup:

Groups:
Registered Members
Registered Guests

Roles:
Registered Members have access to everything
Registered Guests cannot access Members Only (Section) area.

Under Registration Setup Details
Connected all membership types to the appropriate Group/Role.

The problem:
No matter which Membership type is used to register, the account will only access the Registered Guests area.

Under [set access] for Registered members, I have no Group/Role restrictions.
Under [set access] for Registered Guests, I have Group/Role restrictions for Members Only section.

I have read every word of the documenttion from front to back. Tried more configurations than I want to remember, and still cannot get this ACL to work. And, I am not receiving any error messages.

Am I alone out here? Does everyone else have this component working?

jmack50,

Please raise a ticket at http://support.corephp.com and one of our techs will assist you. Please also check to make sure that the Community ACL Plugins are installed and turned on. There should be 4 total plugins that should be activated.

Kindest regards,

Debcampos,

You will still use the normal Joomla! registration form. You will set your default access levels in the CACL configuration for registered users. When someone registers they will inherit these rights.
