Hi all,

I am wondering if someone can please help!  I have having issues with this component.  :(

Basically I have installed everything, created all the users, groups and roles.  Assigned users to their groups and roles, everything was going well.  But when specifying which menu items people can and cannot access it doesn't work at all.  It either shows all menu items or none.

I have tried allowing all by default and switching off the menu items I wish to remain unseen, didnt work.

I have tried denying access by default and allowing only the menus I want people to see and still doesnt work.  Its all or nothing!

I dont suppose someone has had this issue and can help please?!

Thanks

1. Have you installed the helper (if you open Community ACL and go to the "About" page, do you see any instructions or red text)?

2. If you switch to a default Joomla template, does it work?

Hi!

I have installed the helper.  On the about page and there is no red text or instructions.

Also I set it back to the standard template and those menu items I have restricted are still available.  Its really odd.  It works for restricting access to articles , although it still doesnt remove the link from the menu.  It doesn't work at all with JomCalendar, CK Forms or DOCMan(free edition).

EDIT: Does uninstalling and re-installing this component erase all the data that I have entered for users and groups etc?  I might give that a go to see if it want to work after the re-install.

Upgrading to the most recent version (1.3.7) may fix your issue if you are still having problems.

Hi,

Ive just upgraded and it still does nothing at all.  My test user that i have added to a group which should restrict access to certain menu items still shows everything.  No difference at all.

I am using community ACL since 3 days and maybe these hints should help you finding the errror...

First of all, I recommend to check again all settings, sometimes it may be a little bit confusing working the first time with Community ACL. I spent several hours to fully understand how it works. Did you allow everything by default or deny? Check the settings in groups, roles, functions. Did you select the appropriate groups, roles and functions in the section "Community ACL Details" of the user detail?

Do you use the actual version of joomla?

How did you organize your menus? It maybe helpful to work with sections / categories for your menu items and restrict / grant access to these.

I can tell that I had the same problem and it disappeared with the upgrade to ACL 1.3.7 .

Good luck!
