I have installed the plugin and now my site just shows a white screen and the admin is also the same.  What do I need to do now?

Please set error reporting to maximum (momentarily) which will typically display a useful error and give us something to work with.  This can be performed by:

1. Logging into your Joomla administrator backend.
2. Going to Site->Global Configuration->Server
3. Take note of your current error reporting setting then set "Error reporting" to maximum.
4. Reload your page and take note of the errors (assuming they appear).
5. Set your error reporting back to what it was in step 3.

I would if I could, but I cannot get logged in.  I can delete the plugin via ftp if you think I should try it

Delete the plugin via FTP, enable error reporting then reinstall the plugin.  This should display your error instead of a white screen.
