Hi,
Is it possible for new users to automatically get assigned to ACL groups/roles/functions depending on Community Builder fields when they register as users?

In CB i have fields were users when they register can choose the store  they work in and what position they have (Store Manager etc.)

Is this possible or must i manually assign groups/roles/functions to users after they have registered.

I see that there is a cACL plugin in CB Plugin Manager, but I am not sure what it does.

Hi again,

I have now been testing the new release, but I can't make it work properly. I have followed the instructions on how to use it, but it won't add Community ACL Details automatically on new users as shown in point 7 in CB-Community-ACL-AutoRegPlugin.pdf I still have to add these manually.

Hello all,
I have the same problem. I'm convinced the Installtion process said that the CB auto reg plugin was installed succesfuly. But after many hours of nothing happening, I looked in the CB Plugin Management to find that the Community ACL Auto Registration  was greyed and not published. Further investigation showed that the directory .../components/com_comprofiler/plugin/use/plug_cacl_userreg  was empty.
Easy I thought, I'll just FTP the files up. But alas, then the Admin of CB breaks and I get balnk screens when I access CB User Management etc. So I've unpublished the Auto reg Plugin again.

Joomla is 1.5.10, CB is 1.2.0

Might be version. Bedtime now, but tomorrow I'll try 1.5.11 and 1.2.1.

Oh dear. Everything was proceding very well until this...

Rgds
John

i had the same problem
the problem is when you upload the zip file ,  the folders have a new owner and group 99 and you can't write to it!

you have to ask your server administrator to change it back to your group and owner of your website
to be able to install the plug-ins

We will be releasing a new build with a new installer package shortly. This will resolve many issues that those have encountered with the latest build.

Good news!! In a new cACL release, it is possible for new users to automatically get assigned to ACL groups/roles/functions depending on Community Builder fields when they register as users. I am currently using it on my site and it works greats.

If I am interpreting this right, this is a bit misleading. If you set this up correctly through community builder and have a new box on the registration so that people can click it and be assigned to a group automatically in community ACL, they are not, in fact, being assigned to ONE group, but to ALL groups that are listed under the registration... is this correct?

So there is, in fact, no way to assign users to ONE particular group automatically, right?

Because that seems kind of pointless, unless I'm missing something here.

If you are attempting to save the groups/roles/functions and it doesn't save, please upgrade your version of community acl.

is it possible to assign group A/role A to user 1 by setting a cb_field (dropdown) to A/A in the registration form. This can be done by a moderator while the registration process. You can also choose group B/role B for user 2 by setting the cb_field to B/B ?

PixelPoeten,
We would need to customize Community ACL in order to work like you proposed.
Please let me know if you are interested in a customization so that I can put together a quote for you.
Regards,
Kobby.
