The install docs say that I will have several zip files in a file called Community_ACL_Version_1-0-XX-UNZIPME.zip, but I only have community_acl_1.0.16.zip which by itself installs a plugin only. Am I missing something?

The latest version of community gets installed by an installer - and it is available at: http://www.corephp.com/component/option,com_rokdownloads/Itemid,16/id,189/view,folder/.
I just installed a copy on a test - and seems to be working fine. I would also not mind at all, if you would need for me to install it on your site for you. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any further questions.
Regards,
Kobby.

Also I know why you were confused. Please ignore the documentation instructions on how to install Community ACL. Follow the instruction shown in the Community ACL Installation Manual.pdf - which is the 4th on the list in the Documentation Folder on our site: http://www.corephp.com/component/option,com_rokdownloads/Itemid,16/id,452/view,folder/. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Cheers,
Kobby

Thanks Guys so much for your response. I have a quick question, please let me know what the permissions need to be etc on my server as when I upload the file, it does not install the component but rather a plugin . I never see the red installation button.  I followed the instructions perfectly . This very weird. Please look at the attached files to see my screen shots. Please let me know . Also we're wanting to use this in a "intranet" environment so te securities here in regards to our intranet are very secure. The intranet would support over 1000 users .

Thanks,

I have seen your screenshot. I would like you to install a copy of Community ACL using an older version (which do not use the installer) - then we would be able to identify if the issue is attributed to the fact that the new version uses an installer. Will be looking to a response. Thanks.

I get the exact same thing. I even CHMODed my whole directory to 777 prior to installation and all I get is the plugin. Extremely frustrating.

Jimmy,
Which version of Community ACL are you installing? I know the installer was not working for kobomemphis but when he tried the version 1.0.15 which doesn't use the installer - it worked perfect. So I am developing a package for him - which has the features of the latest version - 1.0.16. Although this is one of the few cases I have got so far in regards to the installer not working on a site.
Moreover, if you submit a support ticket, with more details I think I would be able to assist you as well with your installation.
Cheers,
Kobby.

kobby,

Do I do that through your e-support? I would prefer nobody install anything on my site. I have no problem providing versions, etc, but I would prefer to be the one doing the installation. I don't mind a manual install of a same deal you gave the other person having the same issue as myself.

Jimmy,
Yes, you can do that through e-support. Could you attach screen shots/video when you submit a ticket?
I would like to see a video/screen shots of your installation process - and the outcome.

Done.

How long does it generally take to get this done? I have a lot of backend users I need to give access and limit what they can access.

Hi Jimmy,
Thanks for sending me the video. I have sent you a package that doesn't use an installer. Just let me know if that works for you. I am currently testing a newer version I developed and will that available today for download.
Thanks for your co-operation.
Regards,
Kobby

If you are having issues with your installation - thus it gets installed as a plugin, please check and update your version of Joomla!. It is recommended you update it the latest version -1.5.14 - due to security reasons. And as soon as it is updated - installation should work just fine.
