Okay, I am really new to Joomla and beyond basic HTML, know little - for example, I know almost nothing about PHP. So I bought the Amazon bot and was hoping to use it alongside a users profile for a site I am building for authors. I am not sure if I have just totally gone about this in the wrong way or if it simple doesn't work in the profile.

Here is what I did. I installed the bot and set it up with my account info, etc., and set it to "right." Then in Community Builder (CB), I set up a tab called "buy now" for middle right, and set up a corresponding field called "buy now" with a wysiwyg editor field where I thought I could put the code "{amazon_product}xxxxxxxxxx{/amazon_product}". I made sure everything was published, etc. I had actually set it up so this was not configurable from the frontend, so I went as superadmin and edited the user, dropping in the code in as HTML in the wysiwyg edtior. I get the tab/field in the profile, but the code shows up as code, not as a banner.

Am I putting the code in the wrong way, or is it not available in the CB profile?

The site I am working on is http://www.polkadotbanner.com/index.php - the site is not yet complete or intended to be open to the public. The working (old) site is at http://www.polkadotbanner.com/index.html .

Help!

Hum this is a very good question. This was built for quite a few customers to use to grab items and be able to style very easily within there template. I have not tested this in CB at all but you are correct that string looks correct.

http://www.fxtectips.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=25

The above link is an example. Although you will notice that this is in Joomla content and not in CB. I would imagine it would work fine in CB. So lets run down a few things to make sure that this is running properly.

1: You installed the bot - did you check to see if it is turned on - make sure there is no red X next it it listed under Mambots -> Site Mambots
2: If it doesnt work in CB - did you test with regular content.

Let me know the results of the above two - if those fail - I will have you email me your information to login and I will go ahead ahead and check it out.

Yes, all published. I actually had the "buy now" box showing, but took it off since it was not showing correctly. I will put it back, but the Amazon display was not showing up in there, only the code.

For the sake of conversation, I put the banner at the bottom of the "join us" page. I got the banner to show - no problem. (Easy!) except it is not showing the product, just the orange generic banner. I checked the ISBN twice (it's my own book) and verified it with Amazon's asin, but can't get that to show. At least I am one step ahead of where I was before.

I can't figure out why it wouldn't show up in the profile. Doesn't seem like there would be any reason not to. I even tried putting it in the "about my book" portion, but still only the code shows up.

Thanks for your help.

One last thing to note - did you change the data in the bot it self. Click on the name of the bot and edit it. You might still have my account information in there - which I believe is not active anymore which would create this issue as well.

Okay, the correct Amazon banner appeared after about five minutes, so maybe it just takes some time. So the bot itself is workiing.

I put back the tab/field in CB so that you can see how it is displaying (check the profile for Transformational Healing). Everything shows up as it should except that the code is showing here instead of the banner. I used a wysiwyg editor for the field and inserted the code as HTML.

On the bot itself, I did enter my Amazon ID. I don't know about a date?

Well it looks to be CB not allowing bots to run within CB itself. I did a test with your number on CB and this is the result: http://www.corephp.com/contests/monthly_contests/test.php

This is the result of my finds:

So you seem to be saying that it won't work, but was your test within a profile? Because your test did work.

I do not have the ability to do any rewriting or creating which is why I use or buy my components/modules/bots already created by talented designers such as corephp.

no - I do not have community builder on the site - that was a test within content. I am working on setting up a Community Builder installation which I will have set later this afternoon and take a look at the code of Community Builder - also what version are you using so that I can check this out as well.

I have found that CB does not allow the type of mambot trigger to be executed. I will be looking into making this into a CB bot but please do allow for a short period of time as our current workload is quite heavy.

I hope to have an CB plugin for this shortly.

Oh, well that sure would be great as it would be perfect in my situation and is not much use to me outside of CB on this particular site. I am hoping to launch the site by mid-September. Do you think you might have it by then? Or should I look longer term?

Thanks for all your help. A great product.
