jomSocial and Search plugins now available for WordPress for Joomla!

We have been working hard behind the scenes to wrap up a few gems for WordPress 3.0. I am proud to announce the official stable release of following plugins:

  • jomSocial Plugin: This plugin pulls all the most recent posts from a user into the profile. New additions such as improved editing, social sharing, and improved styling are now part of this package.
  • jomSocial Toolbar: Additional toolbar item will be displayed right within the jomSocial toolbar allowing you to easily access your blog, edit your blog, and more!
  • Joomla! Search Plugin: Now, you can search through the multi-site blog posts just as easily as single blogs! Building this plugin to allow for multi-site searches was a challenge, and we’re sure you’ll like the results.
  • Complete integration with jomSocial. The blog post will appear in the jomSocial news feed. Every time you post a blog, you can configure the amount of points that user will get with the jomSocial points system

As you can see, these tiny tools will do wonders for your site. Enjoy!

Call for beta testers!

As you can probably tell by our recent posts, we have released a few new products…and we also have other products coming as soon as we get our coffee machine fixed. 🙂

We need some happy and trustworthy mutants to help us test product updates and upcoming products. If you are interested in helping, email our CEO Steven Pignataro….I’m kidding! He will be mad if he gets all that mail. Just post a comment to this post and make sure that you enter a valid email address.

Just one thing – Please don’t volunteer unless you have the time to download and test Joomla! products on a regular basis.

As a compensation for testing our products, you will receive a hefty discount if you decide to purchase any of them.

Thank you!

Spreadsheet to Joomla!

freakedout (http://www.freakedout.de) is a small web consulting company, which originated in Germany and specializes in client project consulting and management as well as custom Joomla! development. One of our goals has always been to make the user experience for clients as closely catered as possible to what their actual needs are, while still maintaining a flexible framework for “spontaneous idea implementation”. Along our way we have acquired many great clients, which has given us the opportunity to release some extensions for free to the community. It’s not many extensions but people definitely find good uses for them. Our lineup also includes a couple of commercial extensions, of which free basic versions are available, in case you would like to support our projects.

Let’s cut to the chase. While engaging with many clients from different fields and with varying levels of technological skill, we have tried to come up with a common denominator so that we could optimize the step between receiving contents and uploading them. And then we realized we had an old custom Joomla! component lying around, which could match those requirements. Everyone knows how to use Microsoft Excel, because everyone has to use it for their business in some way or another.  Thus was born the Content Uploader.

The actual procedure of using it is quite easy. You setup different columns in your spreadsheet for title, section, category, metadata and more. The next step is to go to the simple interface where you enter your column references into the corresponding fields. For example, you can set the article titles to be retrieved from column A and the sections from column B, or whichever way you like. Save your configuration, choose your file and then upload it. After uploading your contents you can go into the article manager and fine tune whichever articles need it. It’s that simple, but if you still have troubles don’t hesitate to stop by our forum.

Get the free version or the pro version here (http://www.freakedout.de/joomlaextensions/25-joomla-extensions/53-content-uploader.html) or read a more in depth documentation on our demo site (http://www.freakedout.de)

We have a limited time introductory offer at 50%. You can find the coupon code on the subscription page.

Thank you to the guys at ‘corePHP’ for their suggestions and support with our project!

Uber fast JPhoto security release

‘corePHP’ Community,

Today we where informed of a SQL injection for JPhoto. After significant review of this we realized that we made a minor mistake on our part and have pushed through an early release of JPhoto. You can find out more information about the exploit here: Secunia. This version comes with a few bug fixes and some new features which will be explained in a later blog post

To upgrade simply download and install the new version of JPhoto by installing it over the current one that you have, it packaged as an upgrade. If Joomla gives you errors on installing then you have the permissions set incorrectly on your site and you will need to uninstall JPhoto and install it again, just take note of all of the configuration settings!

Thank you for using JPhoto.
