WordPress for Joomla! 3.0 Sneak Peak!

It gives us great pleasure to present one of the largest updates we have ever created for one of our products. Now presenting…Wordpress for Joomla! 3.0! (sparkle sparkle)

WordPress for Joomla! 2.x combined the best blogging platform with the best open-source content management system available. Since its release, we’ve become aware of a few problems dealing with plugins and occasional WordPress templates. So we tucked ourselves away for the past month and half in a dark room and alternately drank great deal of energy drinks and coffee and set out to make WordPress for Joomla! perfect. I think we have succeeded! Read on for some of the major enhancements in “WordPress for Joomla! 3.0″…soon to be released!

  • Rewritten from the ground up. We have spent a great deal of time re-tailoring our integration. WordPress for Joomla! 3.0 is more stable, easier to use, and, of course, still just as seamless as WordPress 2.x to the end user.
  • 90% of plugins for WordPress will work. This ability has been heavily requested by our users and it is now available.
  • Native WordPress Theme support. WordPress for Joomla! 3.0 allows you to utilize 3rd party themes for WordPress inside of Joomla!
  • Reduced pricing. Here at ‘corePHP’ we feel it is important for everyone to have the ability to utilize our product. The new WordPress 3.0 will be available at a special pricing point of $69.99/year subscription.
  • Pre-order now. We are only a few weeks away from releasing WordPress for Joomla! 3.0 and we want you all to be the first to get your hands on the product. So we are allowing pre-orders with an early bird special of $49.99 for the first year and $69.99 each year afterward. Pre-Order now!

So without any further delay here is a sneak preview of what has been happening behind closed doors:

This is excellent! I love the new features and in particular the new plugin support :) This will make WP4J much more widely adopted as it was a big limitation IMHO.

I too have been awaiting the arrival of this version! Now its time to get started on making sure our WP4J/Morph theme works with this version.

    Well done!

Thanks Andrew – we are working hard on bringing everyone the best version of this application ever.

@Jack – Our package is going to be just like standalone WordPress, there will be one package that contains WordPress and WordPress Multisite.
@Andrew – We just started our testing phase. The time that it will take to test and bug fix fix as well as write brand new documentation will be at least two weeks.

    Andrew,
Looks great! When will this be released and how soon can we get started on this?
Would you let us help you with Beta testing?
    Please let me know.

So it’ll just be a couple weeks or so?? That’s awesome! Oh…and for current subscribers, will we be able to download this as part of our updates subscription?

I don’t remember if the subscription made update vs upgrade distinctions.

    1. Rafael Corral

@Ro – WordPress 3.0 for Joomla will be sold as a new subscription, which you can pre-order right now to get a cheaper price. I hope this answers your question.

We have a Joomla website with a WordPress blog not integrated
The 3.0 Word Press blog is from StudioPress Lifestyle using their Genesis theme and the Joomla Theme is from Rocket Theme, Solar Sentinel
I tried using your component a whiel back but couldn’t get it to integrate with the Rocket Theme template
Do you know if your new version will be compatible with these 2 themes?

if I pre-order now, do I get the current version, then get the 3.0 when it is released?

    1. Rafael Corral

@Andrew – We are doing our best to make this new version the best it can be.
Our template developer is working on making the WordPress template compatible with as many template clubs as possible.

@Mark – You won’t be getting the current version if you purchase the new subscription.
We are very close in doing our WordPress 3.0 release.

@RugbyCiste – Yes, with this new version of WordPress for Joomla you will be able to use any WordPress theme.

I’ve tested the beta version and I can’t wait to get my hands on the final version. It’s a vast improvement on the old Joomla-for-WordPress and, I’m sure, will become one of the most significant Joomla components around. Rafael has done the most amazing job!

    Hi Rafael and all,

I am looking to integrate Joomla and WordPress – I’m not as computer savvy (as my developer) but I need to purchase this plugin for them I believe in order to utilise the features of WordPress within my Joomla Site.

Do you have any rough estimates of when this will be available for release?

Will it be within the next week?

  9. Josh

Also another perhaps silly question but quite relevant.

Does this new pluggin contain the features for multi user blogging like WordPress MU?

Or is there another release coming for that?

  10. Rafael Corral

    Josh,
We are planning on releasing really really soon ;)
This is WordPress 3.0, so yes, it includes WordPress Multisite (as it is called now). It will be one subscription, and you can either use a single blog or the multisite.

    Hi Rafael

Thank you for your reply and the clarification.

I am hoping it will be in the next week otherwise I will need to consider some other solution as our website/business launches within then. I have the Joomla design, I have the wordrpess design. I just need your too to integrate :) if that can happen, that would be great!

    Kind regards,
    Josh

Will the Riffly.com video commenting system work with the new 3.0 plugin if we installed it on WordPress?

Please advise and also, any closer to finding perhaps a release date?

I also hear that you do installations? How does this process work?

    Kind regards,
    Josh

  13. Rafael

I installed the riffly plugin, but it seems the paths to the CSS file and Javascript file that it calls are incorrect (this is not due to the integration), but aside from that it seems to “work”.

We can do an installation on your Joomla site for any of the our products, there is a fee and you can pay for this service through your account.

  14. Josh

    Hi Rafael,

We have a Joomla site being developed and a WordPress site being developed. How does the installation work? We would need to integrate the WordPress blog to a page within our Joomla site and ensure JomSocial works with the blog.

When you mean the Riffly plugin does not call the right CSS and Javascript – does this affect the functionality? Does the plugin work properly on the blog that you installed it on within a Joomla site.

We would be able to pay for this if you are able to integrate the plugin for both of our sites, how much would this cost, it was $30?

Could this be done next week if the plugin is due for release?

Please email me privately if this is possible if you are not able to respond on here. We would need this ASAP.

Thanks very much for your help Rafael.

    Kind regards,
    Josh

    Josh,

    I tested this plugin:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/riffly/ – It does not work at all, the plugin is only compatible to WordPress 2.7.1 version, so it could be the problem.

We will have a JomSocial plugin that will have integration with WorPress for Joomla.

The $30 installation fee, is for one site only, and we will install the extension and ensure that it is fully working on your site.

    Rafael

  16. Josh

Do you have a copy of the your plugin that works for the WordPress 2.7.1 plugin?

Does JomSocial work with any of your earlier plugins?

That is pretty much an essential part of what we are after. The Riffly pluggin – is there anyway to try to make it compatible or we will have to opt for a lower version of your plugin?

    Please let me know.

    Kind regards,
    Josh

    Hi Rafael,

Could you try this plug in by Kontura, the all in one video pack.

It is compatible up to 2.9.2 and may just work with 3.0

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-video-pack/

Also, that would be great to have the installation, it would be only on our site.

Please confirm JomSocial will also work with the new 3.0 release?

When could all this be done, any chance within the next week?

  18. Rafael Corral

    Josh,

The riffly plugin will not work on previous version of WordPress for Joomla out of the box, simply because of the plugin limitation that exists with those versions.

JomSocial works with all of our version and we have a JomSocial plugin for all version of our extension.

I tested the all in one video pack and it appears to be fully functional.

Hey! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any issues with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing months of hard work due to no back up. Do you have any solutions to protect against hackers?

    1. Rafael Corral

It is mostly a matter of keeping your wordpress install up-to-date as well as any third party plugins. There has not been a specific WordPress for Joomla vulnerability since we have released our extension.
