WordPress MU for Joomla! 2.8.6

The latest release of WordPress MU is out! This release is a big one and will require some installing/uninstalling depending on how many WordPress MU modules you have installed on your site. To update, simply uninstall the component and install the new version. Please read the “Before you upgrade” section below to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.

Here is the release information from WordPress.org.

Features we added –

  • Most of the template strings are now on a Joomla! language file. Now you can rely on more accurate and complete translations than ever before! The rest of the strings are automatically translated through a .mo file.
  • Full support for avatars from Community Builder and JomSocial. This option can be toggled under the Site Admin Options. The avatars will be used everywhere on WordPress MU.
  • If a new blog is added and visited through the dashboard, it will use the ItemID of the main blog, so the page will display modules.
  • Added better support for breadcrumbs. It will now display the blog’s name before the current page the user is viewing within a blog.
  • NEW: Sitemap plugin for Xmap.
  • NEW: Latest Updated Blogs Module. This module displays a list of the updated blogs.

Bugs we fixed –

  • User roles now display properly in the settings area of the blog and describe what roles they are attached to within the blog. Before this was fixed, the blog settings displayed incorrect user roles on blogs if they were part of more than one blog.
  • Added support for the preview URL on sh404SEF. sh404SEF will generate a random URL, this way the incorrect URL won’t be cached when a user is only previewing the post.
  • Fixed bug that did not allow deletion of images from post Gallery Iframe and Media Library Iframe.
  • Attachment links are now SEFed.
  • Updated Akismet plugin to latest release, which fixed a few bugs with the plugin.
  • Fixed the RSS feed for the EveryHome template. Now the links are generated properly.
  • Author names now display in the EveryHome theme if the option is selected.
  • When editing a blog, only users that are part of that blog will display rather than all users site-wide.
  • When a URL has multiple occurrences of the first segment of a URL, it no longer replaces that string throughout the URL multiple times, as it should only replace it once.
  • A Valid URL has been built for xmlrpc URL.
  • You can now display RSS feeds on a per category basis.
  • If Post slug box is selected, it now displays persistently when editing a post.
  • Links from the wpmuadmin component that were not linking correctly to posts have been fixed. The error originally occurred because $component_name was being replaced with com_wpmu.
  • Routing of URLs is now more reliable.
  • The link for the comment posting URL is now SEFed.
  • Added a check to make sure stripslashes_deep doesn’t exist, and will no longer conflict with JCal Pro.
  • The custom header color now works.

Before upgrading make sure you do the following:

  1. Back up your database tables. This release includes a database upgrade for those of you that are on
  2. Take note of the configuration of your modules. You will have to install the new versions due to the language file changes.
  3. If you have made changes to your templates, make sure you do a backup of those files too. These are normally located under /media/wpmu/themes/
  4. If you haven’t made any changes to your template files, simply delete this folder: /media/wpmu/themes/ … Once the reinstall goes through it will add those new files to the right location as long as it is writable.

Since the template is now being translated, we had to edit all of the modules so that they pull in the translated file in case they are being loaded on a page that is not the WordPress MU component. Therefore, it is important to update those as well.

That will do it. Happy blogging!

I am ecstatic that they fixed the sh404 preview link bug. I reported it a little while ago and it has been fixed as promised!

There’s a brand new really exciting plugin for the real estate industry to embed mls listing data into your wordpress blog. )

I really need to know that wordpress for joomla will work with this plugin and the timeframe for the conversion (assuming it doesn’t work out of the box).
    Thanks in advance!

If the code is not encrypted – then it could be a matter of a few hours of work – or a few days of work. It is pretty hard to tell when we can not review the source. If you would like – please submit a support ticket at http://support.corephp.com (login with your corephp account).

      Kindest regards,
