paGO is a refreshing new way to build and deploy e-commerce websites using Joomla!. Not only is it easy to setup and use, but you'll be delighted to find out that it only takes a couple moments to get your configuration done. Gone are the days of complicated installations, cumbersome shipping tables and confusing product attribute systems.

paGO is designed to just make sense.

From the familliar Joomla installation process to adding products, the whole workflow was built so that it makes sense to you as the admin. This documentation will take you step by step through each process using simple explanations and pictures to assist in visualizing.

Creating Categories

All your items that you will be selling fall into categories. Even if you only sell one item, you must set up a category in paGO for it. Since we're setting up a mobile phone shop, we'll be setting up a few categories:

  • Unlocked Android Phones
  • Unlocked Android Phablets
  • Unlocked Android Tablets

How to Create a Category

From the paGO dashboard, on the left side, hover over Shop, then down to Categories

select category from flyout

You will find three tabs at the top of the paGO interface: Information, Category view and Product view. Make sure you are on the information tab.

Fill out the category information fields with the category's info.

category information

Next scroll down to the Meta Tags information section and fill that out with the meta info.

paGO category meta tag info

Finally you can add a category image with the media manager at the bottom.

Just click the blue Add Image button and upload the image that you want to use with the category.

category image

Make sure to save the category before going on.

Category View

There are three tabs in the Category View when you are creating new categories. These setting apply when you set a menu item to link to a category. For example, if I had a menu item that linked to the "unlocked android phones" category, these setting would apply for that page.

Category Settings

While paGO allows the admin to select custom templates for each category, we will go into detail about how this is done in a later section.

Category Title: Choose wether or not to show the category's title on the page
Product Counter: shows or hides the number of products in a category or sub category
Category Description: shows or hides the description you entered in the Category Infomation tab
Category Image: Shows or hides the category image you uploaded in the Category Information tab
Category image settings: you can set the margins, border and padding around the image manually here rather than having to do it in CSS.

category view category settings

Product Settings in Category View

This tab allows you to change the settings of how your products show up in the category view. You can hide or show all the parts of the product display.

Product Grid in Category View

You can change the grid display on the category page when you switch to grid view from standard view.

Adding Images to Products

In paGO, from the product page, click on the Media tab and you will be presented with a table where your images will be displayed after upload.

media tab

Click on the blue Add Images button to begin uploading your images. You can either upload the images one by one OR multiple images at once.

uploading product images

Once your images have uploaded, click the save changes button. In your media tab you will now see your images.

images in media tab

Notice that you can take this opportunity to change the image names and add captions.

Use the blue star to designate one of the images as the main image. The Green Checkmark means that the image is active, and the Access column is for who can see the product image.

Product Attributes

Now, lets say that our demo product, the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes in white and dark blue, so we'll have to add both colors so that the customer can select his or her choice when checking out.

To do this, go to the Attributes tab and click the add attribute button on the right:

product attributes

We want the white color phone to be the default, so we fill out the form as shown and save.

adding attribute

Name: Name of attribute
Alias: used by paGO - can be left blank
Type: choose color as we're creating color attributes
Visible: select wether to show the attribute or not
Preselected: Set to yes because we want the customer to make a choice of color when purchasing
Show On Cart: We want the customer to see what color they are purchasing in the shopping cart so we'll set this to "yes".
Display Type: We'll use a drop down menu as the way the buyer selects his or her color

Click Save then click the Attribute Values tab to go on.

Here, you will click the add button on the right side and fill out the fields for the white colored Samsung S3 phone. We will also upload an image of the white phone (not required, but may increase sales :D )

add attribute value

We'll repeat the step for each color. In this example, we'll do it again for the blue color attribute value.

add blue attribute value

Click the Save checkmark, not the "Save and Close" button. Now click on the Manager button and then + Add Product Variation button:

product variations

This is where you create seperate variations on the product. Each attribute must have it's own variation so that when a customer chooses one color or another, then we'll have different SKUs for each one.

Here's how the white color Samsung S3's variation is setup:

product variation white

When complete with all the variations, click the Save button again to save the changes, and we are done with Attributes.

Product Meta Tab

The product meta tab functions in much the same way that the Joomla! meta works, but is for that product as opposed to an article.

Shipping Configuration

NOTE: Before setting up the shipping within the product, you must have set up the shipping modules found in the side menu Extend > Shipping.

The paGO shipping configuration is pretty straight forward and easy to use. When setting up shipping for each item, it's a good idea to add a little room for packaging and and padding you might protect the item with.

Simply enter the dimensions of the product as you will be shipping it. Take note that you can switch from English to Metric in the locale settings.

paGO allows you to set shipping on a per-item level which overrides the global shipping rules. For example, Let's say you had a halloween costume that you sold all year round. During most of the year, customers didn't really care if was sent via a slower shipping method because Halloween wasn't coming around for months. But From September 15th through October 20th, you wanted to offer 3-day shipping, then this is how you do it.

Enter the date that you want the shipping override to begin, and then on the end date, just delete the date to return to normal shipping methods as defined in Global Shipping Parameters.

You can assign Free Shipping during that time period, either by itself or in conjunction with a shipping override.

Shipping Method lets you assign a special shipping method to the product for only during the Availibility date. You have to set this up in the shipping under global shipping parameters first.

Configure Product Pricing

From the new product page, Click on the Pricing tab right above the Basic Parameters:

pricing tab

We're now going to set the price of the product and assign the tax.

product price

Price: The price of the item without tax or shipping or discounts
Tax Exempt: If the item can be exempted from taxes, set this to yes, and no tax will be calculated
Tax Class: Assign the correct tax class for the item

You also may assign a discount, either permanent or limited time offer.

Start & End Dates: The start and end dates of the discount
Discount amount: The amount you want to discount off the regular price
Discount type: Choose either price (amount subtracted from regular price) or percentage (percentage off regular price)
Apply Discount: Choose to apply discount or not

Click Save in the upper right to save your work.

Basic Product Parameters

Product creation is the meat and potatos for any eCommerce, and paGO makes it really simple!

Here, we will create a product listing for the store. Let's say we will be selling a physical product.

A physical product is one where you have an actual item and will ship it to the buyer after purchase.

First thing we do is go to the Shop menu item > Items. We are at the items manager page where we will see a list of items that we're selling on the storefront.

item manager

To create an item, we'll click New from the top right icons:

new item button

We're now on the Product Base Parameters page where we'll fill out all the information about the product:

base parameters title

Title: The Title of the product
Alias: the product's URL - Can be left blank
SKU: The product's SKU#
Quantity: The number you have in stock
Selected Tags: The type of item you're selling (eg: Phones, Accessories, Cases, etc...)
Published: If yes, the item is visible and ready for sale on the storefront.
Access: Public - available to anyone, Registered available to logged in buyers, Special available to only certain users specifically
Item Custom Layout: Use the default layout or one that you've custom built

Next, we fill in the product category and both short and long descriptions:

product description

It would be best practice to click the Save button on the upper right before moving on.

Currency Configuration

The Manage System interface will allow you to manage localization settings within the payGO eCommerce system.

Store Configuration

After doing the installation, the first thing you will want to do is setup the store. In this part, we will add your specific store information.

From the payGO dashboard, configuration is found with a gear icon on the lower left. As you hover over it, a menu will slide out. For now, just select Main Configuration.

You will be greeted with the following layout:

basic info

Store Name: Enter the name of your online store (or site if you prefer).
Store Slogan: Enter your store's slogan or tagline
Store Email: The email address that users will receive shop generated emails from
Store Online: Enables or Disables the store
Store Description: Description of your store

Store Address Box

Moving down to the second box, we fill out the address information about your store:

 store address

Just fill out the fields and when done, go back up to the tabs and click Checkout to manage the checkout page.

checkout tab

Now we have to fill out the checkout options:

checkout options 1

Force Registration: If yes, the customer will will have to fill out a registration form, creating an account before purchase.
AJAX Checkout: If yes, no page reloads will be required through the checkout process
Skip Shipping: If yes, the process will skip the shipping selections. This is used for digital products that can be downloaded, for example.
Shipping Type: You can assign shipping on a per order or per item basis. (Per Item shipping type could be used when weight of the shipment is a large factor, as it is with overseas shipping - requires the weight field to be used on all items).
Display Price Including Tax: Do you want to show your prices with tax already factored in (requires tax to be setup)?
Calculate Tax Based on: Choose the correct location -- Billing, Shipping or your Store's address to assign tax rules
Default Tax Class: Requires Tax Classes to be setup
Default Tax Address: Choose to apply tax eiter after the user logs in or display tax based on your store's address

At this point, the basic store configuration is done.

Tax Rules

Tax Rules (tax classes) are simply how you define and assign taxes to orders and or items. A real world example is having different taxes in each state of the USA. The tax class could be named "USA Taxes" and each state's tax would be defined here in the rates.

Start off by creating a new Tax Rule by clicking New at the top right of the payGO dashboard:

new tax rule

Next give your tax rule a name and set published to "yes" in the Tax Class Parameters.

tax class params

Click save and close, and you will now see your new Tax Class on the tax class table:

tax class rule added

To configure the new Tax Class, please click on "View Tax Rates" link to the right of the tax class name.

Now create a new tax rate by clicking the New button on the top right:

new tax rate

Now just fill out the Tax Rate Form with the required information for each tax rate needed:

tax rate form

Tax Rate Name: Recommended to name it the same state/providence as the rate you're creating.
Tax Classes: Select the tax class that you want this tax rate to fall into
Tax Rate: please add rate without the percentage (%) sign
Apply Tax on Shipping: choose if you want to tax the shipping or not
Priority: where this tax rate will appear in the list of rates (0 is the top of the list)
Published: When satisfied with the correct information, select yes to publish

Click save and close to save your work. Add the rest of the rates in the same fashion.
